We are excited to introduce Ejiroghene “EJ” Arhagba, who recently joined Everkem as our Chemist and Technical Director. EJ’s journey into chemistry is both inspiring and relatable. Although he initially explored various academic paths, it was chemistry that captured his interest and became the subject in which he naturally excelled during college. After changing his major three times, EJ found his true calling in chemistry, and he hasn’t looked back since.
When he’s not in the lab, EJ enjoys a variety of hobbies that keep him active and engaged. He is passionate about DIY projects, staying fit at the gym, and being involved in his church community. He also loves traveling, with a particular desire to visit Nigeria, his home country, which he hasn’t had the chance to return to since leaving.
One interesting fact about EJ that might surprise you is his enthusiasm for outdoor activities, especially those that involve working with his hands, such as car and truck maintenance. Whether it’s a day spent working outside or fixing up a vehicle, EJ finds joy in these hands-on experiences.
In terms of motivation, EJ credits a simple yet profound lesson he learned from his father: “If a man isn’t willing to work, he doesn’t want to eat nor provide for his family.” This unspoken wisdom has fueled EJ’s work ethic, driving him to excel in his career and provide for his loved ones.
As EJ steps into his new role at Everkem, he is most excited about the opportunity to provide stability in our R&D department and bring industry experience to the table. With clear direction from leadership, EJ is eager to take the reins and transform the company’s vision into reality through his expertise.
The best piece of advice EJ has ever received is, “Work without faith gets you nowhere fast. Humble yourself and trust in Him.” This philosophy guides him both personally and professionally, and it’s a mindset he brings with him as he embarks on this new chapter at Everkem.
