In a previous entry we announced that our FS814 and SS90 products were tested for emissions and were confirmed to be LEED v4 compliant per CA Section 01350. Today, we’re happy to announce that our NSF Rated, 100% Silicone Sealant, TruSil 100 has been tested and is LEED v4 compliant as well. You can view the testing documentation here.

As mentioned in our previous entry regarding our FS814+ and SS90 products, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) are some nasty air pollutants emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids that are often times found in many building materials. These pollutants can cause a host of long-term adverse health effects, and so minimizing them is of the utmost import. TruSil 100’s LEED v4 compliance gives architects, specifiers, installers, and inhabitants confidence that the product positively impacts the built environment while simultaneously contributing points toward the LEED rating system.

As part of our commitment to customer-driven solutions, Everkem Diversified Products is pleased to announce the addition of fixed nozzle tubes to our TruSil 100 line of Silicone Sealants, thus offering both fixed nozzle and removable nozzle packaging options for the product.

The line was launched with a screw on nozzle which allowed for easy cleaning, storage, and reuse after the product had been opened. It also allows a smaller, precision-focused bead size easier to achieve via the nozzle being able to be cut to a smaller bead size and swapped out across multiple tubes.

While we received some great feedback on the removable nozzle from a wide portion of our customer base, we also realized that there are some customers for whom the removable cartridge is just not a good fit for their applications. After listening to this feedback, we’re happy to add a fixed nozzle as a packing solution that can meet all of our customers’ needs, completely. We will still carry TruSil 100 in cartridges with removable nozzles while offering the fixed nozzle option.

Fixed nozzles are currently available in clear, with additional colors and mildew-resistant options available upon request. For ordering purposes, fixed nozzle cartridge part numbers are the same, with a simple addition of “-FN” at the end. Ex: TS100C-FN

Recently, Everkem was fortunate enough to be able to contribute to a worthy cause.

House Of Prayer & Praise Ministries, located in Warren, Ohio is a non-profit Christian Ministry specializing in the distribution of food, clothing, and other items such as slightly used furniture, appliances, and household goods as well as providing simple home maintenance to single parents, the elderly, less fortunate and under-served children and families in need.

Everkem Diversified Products donated a few cases of our silicone sealants to their efforts, and they were nice enough to provide us a picture of the product being used.

We wanted to take the time to spread the word about their efforts, as well as publicly thank them for allowing us the opportunity to play a small part in improving people’s lives. ABOUT HOUSE OF PRAYER & PRAISE MINISTRIES

 

House of Prayer and Praise Ministries is a non-profit Christian Ministry located in Warren, Ohio, specializing in distribution of food, clothing and many other items such as slightly used furniture, appliances and other household goods.  This ministry is targeted to single parents, elderly, poor and under-served children and families in need.

They are strictly non-profit and staffed by non-paid volunteers relying totally on the over-stocked or slightly damaged items we receive from area retailers or individuals, who have been so gracious to partner with us.  They are able to distribute the donated items directly to those who have legitimate needs, virtually without cost to the community. In fact the estimated total of goods and services distributed by their ministry for the 2013 calendar year was in the neighborhood of three million dollars. What’s more, the church only has a membership of roughly 10o!

Since 1984, House of Prayer & Praise has been serving the surrounding communities as well as building a network of distribution in order to reach those in need.  Their local “hands on” involvement includes many local organizations such as veteran’s programs, multiple rescue missions, unwed mothers homes, nursing & elderly housing, facilities for the physically handicapped, local schools, churches, Jewish Ministries, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, whole Amish communities, and so much more.

In addition to making deliveries to the needy, they also help meet many of these individuals other practical needs:

  • snow removal from their driveways
  • automotive mechanical & bodywork repair (sometimes even being able to provide vehicles we have repaired free of charge to the needy)
  • home repairs (paint, electrical, plumbing, flooring, excavating, additions, remodeling, roofing, etc.)
  • year round activities for youth with special physical needs, those from single parent and a variety of other situations (boating, biking, camping, etc.)
  • activities & transportation for the elderly
  • mowing & landscaping for elderly, single moms, etc.
  • firewood cutting, splitting & delivery to those with wood burners
  • trade school training for under-privileged youth and young adults

What’s more, they do not charge the recipients of these services to do any of this.  It is purely a gift in order to make sure that they have what they need to meet the needs of themselves and their family. House of Prayer & Praise Ministries is equipped with a 501-C3 form from the government and would be happy to provide your company with a charitable contribution receipt for any gift given to our ministry

WHAT IS NSF?

There’s a good chance you’ve seen the NSF mark, heard of the certification, or may even carry or use adhesives/ sealants (as well as other products and materials) that bear the NSF-Certified mark. But, what exactly does this certification mean, and what does it mean for you.

NSF International is an independent, internationally recognized, non-profit organization committed to public health, and has been certifying products & writing international standards for food, water, and consumer goods for over 60 years.

WHAT IS NSF-CERTIFICATION?

NSF certification is a voluntary product certification in foodservice that addresses sanitary requirements, certifying that food service equipment is designed and constructed in a way that promotes food safety. NSF Certified products undergo rigorous, strict, and regular testing & auditing. The certification process consists of:

  • A physical evaluation of the product to ensure it meets prescribed food safety standards.
  • Testing and evaluation is performed on the materials used to make the product to make sure they meet prescribed standards.
  • The facility and product must also undergo annual follow up audits to maintain certification.

When a product has been NSF certified, you can feel confident that the product(s) have passed a stringent set of evaluations to ensure food safety requirements/standards are met. Some common food service equipment that is certified by NSF include (but are not limited to) commercial dishwashers, cooking, transporting equipment, commercial refrigerators and freezers, automatic ice making machinery, and food display units.

NSF CERTIFIED SEALANTS & ADHESIVES

It is important (and sometimes required) to ensure the components used in the manufacture, installation, maintenance, and repair of foodservice products are also NSF Certified so as to maintain the product certification’s integrity.

Sealants & adhesives, particularly silicone, are integral components of the manufacture, installation, maintenance, and repair of dishwashers, commercial refrigerators and freezers, transporting equipment, food display units, heating elements, ductwork such as exhaust vents & range hoods, and many other foodservice products that NSF certifies.

NSF certified sealants & adhesives are food safe sealants, meaning they do not cause food borne illnesses when they come into contact with food and/or drinks.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

First and foremost, carrying or using an NSF Certified sealant or adhesive ensures that you & your business are doing your part in promoting food safety. Our TruSil100 family of products, as well as our Hi-Temp Silicone, for example – must undergo a stringent review of its material makeup and manufacturing process, as well as a performance evaluation; our production facility also must be inspected. Following the certification, our TruSil 100 family of products & Hi-Temp Silicone would regularly undergo audits to ensure they continue to meet the highest standards for sanitation and safety.

The NSF logo on our Hi-Temp Silicone and TruSil 100 line of silicone sealants means that the product is respected by regulatory agencies at the local, state, federal, and international levels. As a result, using our NSF Certified TruSil100 and NSF Certified Hi-Temp Silicone let you rest assured that our silicone sealants not only meet safety requirements, but delivers a high quality, independently certified final product.

It’s in the spirit of that commitment that Everkem Diversified Products is proud to announce the addition of TruSil 100 family of products to our Sealtite line of sealants & adhesives.

TruSil 100 is a 100% Silicone Sealant

We designed TruSil 100 as the superior silicone solution. TruSil100’s 100% silicone formulation provides greater adhesion, minimal shrinkage, higher temperature resistance & lower temperature application, and overall increased performance over lesser “extended” silicone formulations commonly found in the marketplace. Additionally, we formulated TruSil 100 to meet low V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds) requirements (30 g/l)- ensuring efficacy of our product without compromising its safety for you, your customers, or the environment.

Speaking of safety, no one likes Mildew. In addition to its awful appearance and smell, it can pose serious health concerns. Fortunately, TruSil 100 is equipped with a line of Mildew Resistant solutions to the product family. These Mildew resistant solutions are perfect for applications in damp, poorly ventilated areas such as showers, locker rooms, tubs, sinks – all the places mildew loves to breed.

NSF-51 CERTIFICATION

From there, we took it a step further, obtaining an NSF-51 Certification. This certification ensures that TruSil 100 is food safe- meaning it does not cause food-borne illnesses when it comes into contact with food and/or beverages. This makes TruSil 100 the ideal sealant/adhesive to use in and around food processing, storage, or virtually any silicone application where contact with food may occur.

Even our product packaging was designed to be superior. TruSil 100 comes in an improved caulk tube designed with a removable nozzle which allows for easy cleaning, storage, and reuse after product has been opened. Also, when using multiple tubes for a project, you can swap out nozzles between tubes to ensure your desired bead size remains consistent throughout the entire job. Oh, and the added screw-on tip reduces waste (and costs!) by limiting the product’s exposure to air between uses, helping to prevent premature curing.
